The short version

AppRevolt is a small independent developer. We don't sell data, run ad networks, or build profiles on people. We collect the minimum needed to make our apps work — and nothing more.

This policy covers all AppRevolt products — including apprevolt.io, Take a Joke, and any future apps we release.

What we collect and why

Launch notification emails
If you enter your email on a waitlist form, we store it to send you one notification when the app launches. That's the only email you'll get from us — no newsletters, no promotions — and we never share your address with anyone. You can unsubscribe or have it deleted any time (see "Your rights").
Game session data (Take a Joke)
While a game is in progress we temporarily hold the room state — the room code, player nicknames, scores, submitted answers, and (if a player chooses them) a self-selected age range and gender used to pick age-appropriate, correctly-worded narrator lines. This exists only for the length of the game and is deleted when the room closes. None of it is tied to a real identity, and we never write a player's age or gender to any permanent record.
Anonymous app IDs
To run the game we use random, anonymous identifiers — one for a TV install, one per player session. They let us route players to the right room, avoid repeating the same prompts to your group, keep anonymous gameplay stats (scores, card ratings, error reports) so we can fix bugs and improve the game, and limit abuse. These IDs aren't linked to your name or any real identity. We never use them for advertising or to build a profile, and we never sell or share them.
Narrator voice (Take a Joke)
Take a Joke's narrator is an AI voice. To speak a line we send the text — which can include the nickname being mentioned — to a third-party voice service (ElevenLabs) to generate the audio, which we then cache so it isn't regenerated. The optional end-of-game "Awards" segment, when enabled, also sends that game's answers and nicknames to an AI writing service (Anthropic) to compose the script. We never send email addresses or account info to these services — there are no accounts.

What we don't collect

We don't require an account for any of our products — no logins, no passwords. We don't use tracking cookies, ad networks, or third-party ad pixels, and we don't build advertising profiles or sell your data to anyone. The gameplay statistics we keep are anonymous and used only to make the games better — never to track you across other sites or apps.

We don't store your IP address in our own records. (Our hosting provider and the services described above may see it momentarily to deliver a request, the same way any website does.) These pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, whose servers receive a request — possibly including your IP address — when the font loads; that's between you and Google, and it's the only third-party service embedded on these landing pages.

Where your data lives

Email addresses and anonymous gameplay data are stored in Supabase, a database service hosted in the United States. Take a Joke's narrator audio is generated by ElevenLabs (and, for the Awards segment, written by Anthropic) and cached in Supabase.

We don't transfer your data internationally beyond what these US-based services do in the ordinary course of their operation.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your email address at any time — just send a note to contact@apprevolt.io and we'll remove it. If you'd like to know what data we have associated with your email, we'll tell you.

If you're in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. We're a small shop and we'll do our best to accommodate any request. Email us and we'll work it out.

Children

Take a Joke is a family party game made for players of all ages. Playing requires no account, no email, and no real personal information — just a nickname a player makes up. The only persistent data tied to a player is an anonymous random ID we use to run and improve the game; we never use it for advertising, profiles, or selling, which keeps it within what privacy rules allow for a service's own internal operations.

If a player tells us an age range so the narrator can pick age-appropriate jokes, we use it only in that moment to choose a gentler line — we never store it. We don't knowingly keep personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent with a question or a removal request, email us at contact@apprevolt.io.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. We won't change things in ways that retroactively affect how we've already handled data you gave us.
