Most players have nothing to delete

Playing Take a Joke never needs an account. If you only ever joined games from your phone, or you've never signed in on a TV, there's no account to delete. Game data is removed on its own on the schedule below, and you can still ask us to delete it sooner.

You have an account only if you bought Take a Joke on our website, signed in to restore a purchase, or added your email to an App Store purchase.

Delete your account in the app

This works on every version of the game — Android TV, Apple TV, the web, Mac and Windows:

  1. Open Take a Joke on the TV or computer where you're signed in.
  2. From the home screen, open Settings.
  3. In the License section, choose Delete account.
  4. Confirm. Your account is deleted straight away, and the app signs you out.

Ask us to delete your data

Can't open the app, never signed in, or want everything else removed too? Email contact@apprevolt.io with the subject "Delete my data". Tell us whichever of these you have, so we can find it:

We'll delete what we find, including copies in our private archives, within 30 days, and reply to tell you it's done.

What we keep, and for how long

Unless you ask us to delete it sooner, this is how long Take a Joke data lasts:

Game rooms
The room code, players' nicknames, answers and scores, and the age range and gender each player picked when they joined. Deleted automatically 14 days after the room's last activity.
Round history
Each round's prompt and winning answer as they appeared on screen — which can include players' nicknames — and the answers players typed in Write Your Own. Kept for 1 year to improve the game, then moved to a private archive.
Play activity
Which buttons were pressed and how long game updates took, tied to random IDs. Kept for 90 days, then moved to a private archive.
Narrator log
Which narrator lines played, including a nickname the narrator said. Deleted after 30 days.
Error reports
Technical details of a problem in the app. Deleted after 30 days.
Cards a TV has used
Which prompts and answers a TV has dealt, so your group doesn't see repeats. Deleted 30 days to 6 months after the TV was last used.
Game summaries and card ratings
Each game's mode, player count and final scores, and the ratings players give cards after a game, tied to random IDs. Kept to improve the game.
Feedback and support messages
Your message, the nickname you played under, and your email if you gave one. Kept so we can answer you and follow up. Your email is removed if you delete your account.
Accounts and purchases
Kept until you delete your account (see above). Google Play and App Store purchase records stay with the TV they were bought on.

We never sell any of this or use it for advertising. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.
